Unique Design

Jcook Design has been developing websites for a number of years. The design of a website can make it or break it. Brilliant visual design combined with user friendliness are taken into consideration with every new design.

  Static Websites

Lots of websites today use some sort of web application to power the website. However, not all websites need to be this complex. If the website's not goin to change; advertising a product or event, a simple static website may be the better - and often the cheaper - option.

  Content Management

If you are looking for a more complex website that can be easily updated by yourself or employees, a Content Management System (CMS) would be the perfect option. I have, and am continuing to develop my own CMS that can power any website. Get in touch for a demo.

  Website Maintainence

Sometimes a complete re-design isn't what your website needs. If you want something changing or updating, and don't know how to do it yourself, I can perform maintainence on your website. Get in touch on the Contact page to discuss further.

  Portfolio

I have put together a portfolio containing some of my most recent web design and development work. Have a look below for examples of work I have done.

  Custom Applications

I have experience in creating database driven custom web applications. If you need an application written, get in touch to see if I can help you.

Victory Club

Designed from scratch and coded as a static website, this is used to publicise Victory Club's activities in the area and helps to bring in new members.

The site is built with some clever Jquery and simple HTML with CSS3. A little PHP is thrown in for good measure.

Get Well From ME

Temporary Sign

Designed from scratch for Temporary Sign, this website will let them showcase their latest media work, and provide a platform to gain new customers.

Taking advantage of the latest HTML5 video techniques, and many great Javascript user interface tweaks, this website sets a high standard in web design.

Although coded as a static website, the code has been well written to allow for a low understanding of html to customise.

St. Augustines TXT System

I have created the custom written Web part of this system.

The system lets users register through the website, or by txting a keyword to the number. The system then lets specific users send out sms messgaes to groups of users; reminding them about clubs happening within the church.

Derby Radio Station

This is an on-going project I'm involved with. The website integrates into the Simple Machines Forum system, letting members of the station edit their show pages, and administrators and committee members to edit the timetable. The timetable runs automatically showing what show is on now, next and later.

Britannia Primary School

This was collaboratively designed along with a friend of mine. I then converted it to HTML/CSS/PHP and my CMS system is being used to control the website. It will be launching within the next few weeks.

Lazy Card

This is an idea I came up with. Being a student, I wanted an easier way to send Christmas Cards. So the idea was born, and here it is!

You can try it out today for yourself. I have also added some other occasions. Birthdays, Easter, Anniversarys, and christmas. Although that might be a little late this year!

Speaker Impedance Calculator

A little tool I've created to help one work out how to configure an audio system when mixing speakers of different impedances.

Including an iPhone/Android web app so you can calculate on the go.

Rushmere Baptist Church

Rushmere Baptist Church came to me looking for a wordpress template for their website. They already had a fully functioning website, but the design needed some attention.

I came up with a few designs to see what they liked and disliked.

This is the end result. A fully functional wordpress theme with multiple page templates and widget positions.

UK Boating

Uk Boating is a new startup online broadcast video station part of the Serious Leisure Chain.

They came to me looking for a wordpress template that would incorporate youtube videos into the theme.

As well as videos, the website needed to incorporate text articles. I was able to achieve this by splitting the site into two categories and building each part around a category structure.

Have a look now, tell your friends! Watch the video's, let them know what you think, and add them on Youtube.

Wendy Guevara

Wendy came to me looking for a new website. She had one already but this was old, out dated and used old web technologies.

So I came up with a few designs and this one came out on top. Using a mixture of PHP and HTML, her new website was born.

Clips of music from her Album & EP, multiple gallery pages and a personal interview make the site a valueable resource of information.

Have a look now, tell your friends! Add her on Facebook and let her know what you think of her music!

14th Ipswich Scout Group

The 14th Ipswich Scout Group has been around for over 75 years now. I first designed a website for them a few years ago now. It was basically a skin on top of PHP Nuke. (A CMS Script)

It was fine and it worked, but when the layout started to look outdated, I designed a new template and this time used my own custom written CMS.

Multiple leaders from the Group can now login and update news and events, upload Programmes and pictures from recent events.

Comanche Explorer Scouts

Comanche Explorers needed a website that the leaders could update so that the Explorers knew what was planned from week to week and if there were any changes to the programme etc.

I designed the website based on the colour scheme set by The Scout Association, and what the Explorers wanted.

The design has evolved over time, and now includes an image gallery and password protected areas.

Gipping Valley Archers

Gipping Valley Archers have been around for a while and asked me to re-design their website. I came up with a design and then implemented my CMS into it. It was perfect for what the needed with various different memebrs from the group needing access to edit different pages.

James Wade Singer/Songwriter

James is a singer/songwriter from the Ipswich area. I've known him for a while and since starting his singing career, he came to me needing a website. So I came up with some designs for him and created the site including my CMS system so that he could keep it up to date himself.

Nigel Potter Mobile Sports Therapy

Nigel's website for his Mobile Sports Therapy business needed updating. The set-up that the website had was through lots of re-directs to some free hosting. Together, we sorted out the domain to resolve straight to the fast servers from my hosting provider; and the website's been faster ever since. As well as this, a sport themed design was in need as well as an easy way to update the website. Once again, my custom written CMS came in handy and the website is now live accross the net.

Matt Baker DJ

Matt came to me askingn for a simple website to portray his new business on the internet. He recently started DJ'ing and gave me a few ideas he had of what he wanted. I came up with a design and some features were tweaked and a final layout was produced. We're still waiting on a photoshoot to finish the design off.
